With reference to Mr. Read's letter of the 22nd
ultimo (13515/14), I am directed to state that further
candidates for the vacant appointments in the Education
Department of Hong Kong were interviewed on the 12th instant
by a Selection Committee which included for this occasion
Mr. E. Ralphs, Chief Inspector of Schools in the Hong Kong
Education Department, and that the Board of Education have
decided to recommend Miss Adrienne Audrey Gladys Holmes and
Miss Mary Cooper (who appeared before the Selection Committee
on a previous occasion) for the appointments. Further
particulars of the qualifications and experience of these
candidates will be found in the attached papers.
It is understood that Miss Holmes is required to
give two months' notice in order to terminate her present
appointment at the end of July.
